Cthulhu, Dagon, Yog-Sothoth and many other dark deities created by H. P. Lovecraft in the 1920s subsequently became so popular that hundreds of fantasy authors, including Neil Gaiman and Stephen King, continue to expand his mythology to this day. Each monster in Lovecraft's world represents one of the countless facets of chaos. Lurking in the depths of the ocean or residing in the depths of impenetrable forests, sleeping in Egyptian pyramids or walled up in mountain caves, coming to our planet from the stars or from the abyss of countless centuries, they are invariably hostile to humanity and beyond the control of reason.
