Miss Martha Meacham feels like she is in seventh heaven when she catches the eye of an elderly German man who regularly buys stale buns at her bakery. The writer also became famous for his stories 'The Cop and the Anthem', 'The Sleuths', 'The Moment of Victory', 'Law and Order', 'The Day We Celebrate', 'One Thousand Dollars', 'A Bird of Bagdad' and 'Sisters of the Golden Circle'. O. Henry, whose real name was William Sydney Porter, is considered a master of the 'Voice of the City' genre, where sparkling humor is combined with deep philosophical meaning.
