Paandimadevi - 1

Paandimadevi' is a Tamizh historical novel by veteran writer Deepam Na.Parthasarathy. The story revolves around Vanavanmadeviyar the queen of 'Thenpaandi Naadu', widow of Paranthaga Pandiyan who was its erstwhile ruler. Na.Pa's flowery language describing the landscape of the countryside paints a vivid picture and takes the reader as one of the citizens of 'Thenpandinaadu'. The queen is the second god to the citizens only next to Goddess Kanyakumari Amman. The king of the neighbouring country is trying to lay siege on her empire and the intial rumblings are created by an attempted murder of her. Does she get murdered? What happens to her kingdom?
