An Honest Thief

'An Honest Thief' is a work by a classic of Russian literature and one of the best world-class novelists F. M. Dostoevsky (1821–1881). The concepts 'honest' and 'thief' are incompatible. However, the author achieves the effect of surprise. First he declares that he is honest there are no thieves, but then there is a story about an 'honest man' who was such until he became a 'thief'.
