'Once, the Kranzedan wanted to take the underground. There, at the end of the escalator, which took him deep, deep down into the earth, and easily missed between faded billboards, was a small iron door. Behind it the Kranzedan heard a tiny voice calling to him: »Come in, come in, come in …« He opened the door, and squeezed through, and he has not been seen since …' 33 bizarre stories in which the author makes his main character disappear again and again as if by a magic trick, only for him to reappear unexpectedly in the next story. Partly childishly perfidious, partly unrestrainedly evil, the short stories drag us into the picturesque madness of the horror paintings created by Michael Hutter.
