Van de uitgever
'The Nightingale and the Rose' is a work by the Irish philosopher, esthete, writer, and poet O. Wilde (1854–1900). The tale was written in 1888 and included in the collection 'The Happy Prince and Other Fairy Tales.' The student dreamed of a red rose, which would give him the opportunity to dance with his beloved girl. And the Nightingale, singing songs for true lovers, decided to help him. Wilde's fairy tales are an original, enchanting world created by the author's imagination. There are no traditional folklore wonders in them. Magic here lives in words, and objects are imbued with magic. Wilde also wrote the following works: 'The Happy Prince,' 'The Remarkable Rocket,' 'The Selfish Giant,' 'The Young King,' 'The Model Millionaire,' and 'The Sphinx Without a Secret.'
