Joby was a simple guy with small aspirations and all he wanted was to reach the peak of the Himalayas like hundreds of others before him so that he'd have done at least one exciting thing in the entirety of his boring life. Worse, the monsters were planning to wipe out the human race for reasons of their own. Joby is DOOMED in all capital letters, as is the fate of humankind unless he can find a way to escape.
